Music Festivals: What your music festival wristband says about you
What do the music festivals you'll be attending say about you?!
Music festival season is about to begin, it's so close you can almost taste it, but what do the music festivals you'll be attending say about you and your personality?
A recent study has shown that there are well over 400 planned music festivals in the UK this summer which securely places them as a much loved summer event. They have become synonymous with good weather, camping, mud and of course good music.
Way back when music festivals first started becoming popular they had a sense of niceness, one that brought people together from all walks of life, one that stripped you of your social status, of your social standing and where everyone was on equal ground. All be it equal muddy and grassy ground. These days it's possible to pay silly money to have luxury accommodation at your festival, but surely that takes away from the fun? Surely it takes away from everything that made the music festivals so fun.
It can be blamed on the fact that music festivals have become so completely mainstream now, and with 450 planned for this summer it's not hard to see why. It is almost mandatory that you get your tickets for a select few festivals and many have already sold out, even though they don't start for another couple of months.
A lot of people these days think that the music festivals are more about the wristbands than the musical bands, and why is that? Because wearing them for weeks after the event speaks volumes for who you are. It tells people of what you're into, where you go, the crowds you hang around with, the music you like etc etc. It's about making a statement. It also can start a pretty good conversation when someone sees what band you have on your wrist and asks the questions.
It is almost a fact that your choice of music festival really says something about you as a person, your very identity. It has been said in a number of studies that people don't go to music festivals for the music that will be played; instead they go for the complete festival experience, the festival atmosphere and the festival attractions of the social sides. Some festivals are cooler than others and it's the ones you choose to go to are the ones that make you cool too. Sad but true, right?
It's built into our human DNA that we want to be with people like us, people who look like us, people who share the same views, people who like the same things, people who go to the same places and it's that that links you to your music festival and the people there. This theory goes deeper than that, and boils down to basic human instinct. You are with a group of people, a 'tribe' if you were. If you think that other members of this tribe are cool then it gives you a strong foot hold on thinking that you're cool too. It makes you happy with your life choices and is literally gives you a pat on the back.
So, who, what, where and why? Some of the questions that you might want to answer. Who are these groups and which one do you belong to? Read more to find out. |
